1. Gather together some documents first, this is the time consuming part.  You’ll need your email address, a cancelled check or bank statement for your charity organization, and the documents awarding your organization your tax free status.  (Your 501(c)3 paperwork.  Paypal will require that you submit this information, so before you can make money for Charity with Paypal take a few minutes to organize yourself.  If you have a registered 501(c)3 organization, it’s possible the fees charged by Paypal will be reduced from the normal amount.
2. Go to the Paypal site when you’re all ready.  You’re not required to have a cup of coffe nearby, however I have found this additional step to be helpful.  (Don’t worry, it’s really not that hard to make money for charity with Paypal!)  Here’s a link right to the Paypal site for you to get started:  Paypal You can sign up for a business account for your organization also.  So you have some options here, you can get the “donate” button once you’ve opened an account, and you can also get a “merchant account” with Paypal, which means you’ll be able to accept credit cards for donations and payments.  If you’d like to take payments over the phone or by email, you can look into the “virtual terminal” option.  But don’t get confused here, if you only want the “donate button” you don’t need the “merchant account.”
3. Once you’ve opened your Paypal account, you’ll need to get the code for the button and either put it on your website yourself, or give the code to your webmaster.

How to Earn Money Online as an eBay Affiliate

If you’re ready for the next step with fun fundraising online for your PTO, follow along with me here for the explanations and step by step instructions on how to start making money online as an eBay affiliate.  At the time of this article writing, eBay is using a “value click” system.  It’s a hybrid between pay-per-click like Google Adsense, and pay-per-action like Commission Junction.  They’ve changed their affiliate payouts within the last year, they used to be commission based with commissions for referrals to open a new eBay account as well.  To sum up the current situation, eBay uses a value click program.  They use a formula which includes how many clicks you sent them by which keywords, to which page you sent your visitors, if they bought something, if that something was what they originally searched for and was referred by your site for, etc.  Pretty complicated.  You can go for days sending thousands of clicks and earning zero per click only to see it jump to one dollar each click for several days, then back to five cents a click for several months.  You can use the reports to see exactly what people bought….  In theory, if you had a website about “buy expensive porshe”, sent your visitors to eBay where they bought expensive porshe’s you could make a big pot of money as an eBay affiliate.  You can also make money sending a ton of visitors there to buy ear plugs, and if the traffic and purchases are steady you can make a steady income…  But I digress…  Feel free to purchase an expensive porshe on eBay through my affiliate link!  Find a great deal on a Porsche on eBay! Cha-ching!

1.  Choose your publish location the same way you did using the articles above for an eBay Donate button.  In that step you opened an eBay account and a PayPal account.  Now it’s time to open one additional account, with eBayPartnerNetwork, which is their affiliate marketing program.
2. Plan your web page that will use eBay ads.  For this article we have selected an example to show you of how an article idea was developed with eBay in mind.  It’s a brief article about vw’s, which you can most certainly find on eBay.  Review the article here:  Used Volkswagen  You’ll notice that the concept of eBay as a great place to find a used volkswagen beetle and vw camper vans for sale is developed, and links to those pages on the eBay Motors website are given.  We’re going to do these steps next.
3. Write your article and describe the product your are marketing, and explain the benefits of purchasing the items on eBay.  In your draft, explain that you can “click here” to see these exact listings on the eBay site.  You’re going to create the text link, and insert it right into the sentance, and cutting out the words you’ve written as your link anchor text.  (eBay includes your link anchor text in it’s html code for you.)
4. Next log into your ebay account and find the items you’d like to market.  Dial your search in as specifically as possible.  Don’t link to the eBay home page, link to an internal page that displays accurate search results.  Take a few minutes and play on the eBay site to find the best product descriptions.  Once you’re on the exact page, copy the url to your clipboard.  (I use “control C” but it may be different for you.)
5. Now log into your eBay affiliate account.  We’re going to begin the process now to obtain the html (or javascript) affiliate code, so that when someone clicks on our ad and visits eBay, there is the potential for income for us.  We’re going to create the link for the used volkswagen on eBay we mentioned above.
6. I’ve located the used volkswagen page on eBay motors.  Try to find it too, this will be on your eBay page, not your affiliate page.  If you’re going to show current listings you don’t need to be logged into eBay.  If you’re going to talk about the past sales prices of used volkswagens on eBay, you’ll need to be logged into your eBay account.  (That’s how you can see the advances search paramaters, which show completed listings.)
7. Now I’ve copied the url that’s in my browser window, the page for the used volkswagen on eBay.  Take a moment and copy that url also.  Don’t try to write it down, it could be about 50 characters long!
8. Go to the eBay Partner Network site, and once logged in, click on the “Tools” tab.
9. Now click on the “Link Generator” icon.
10. Select the drop down link for “eBay”.
11. Click the drop down link for ‘Select a Program”.  (If you haven’t already applied to any country sites on eBay, you’ll need to do that.  There’s no commission for sending traffic to one of the eBay sites you’re not registered for…)
12. I’ve selected eBay US for the United States.  Underneath that select the link type.  Don’t send traffic to the Home Page, eBay doesn’t consider that “targeted” and you won’t make any money.  Select the button for “Custom URL.”
13. Paste your link (the page we found on eBay Motors for the used volkswagen for sale) into the box.  Since they already have the beginning part of the link there, erase that before you paste yours.
14. Click the “Create New Campaign” button.  You should see a pop up box with a yellow line across the top.  Sometimes you have to click a couple of times to see it.  If you don’t see it you may have a browser problem or need java or something frustrating like that.  (good luck, I should have mentioned the step of having a slice of chocolate cake nearby for this particular problem…)
15. Type in something that describes where you will place your ad…  When you make any sales down the road, you can look back at the data.
16. Do the same thing with Custom Id.  I usually write the website an post where the ad is placed.  Remember, and this is really really important!  ONLY PLACE YOUR ADS ON SITES YOU OWN!  I interpret this to mean don’t spam on Twitter, etc.  You can research this more and let us know….
17. The link text is where you’re going to type in your anchor text.  So if your ad is the first word of a sentence, capitalize the first letter.  If you’re going to place it in the middle of a sentance, you may not need to capitalize it.
18. Now click on “Generate Link” and you’re almost done…
19. At this point it shows you in pale blue what your text link will look like.  You also have the choice of javascript and html.  I don’t know why, but I select html…  Picked that up somewhere along the line, right or wrong it’s what I do… 
20. Highlight and copy the code, and paste it in your html editor on your webpage in the sentance where you want the anchor text.   (If that doesn’t make sense to you grab someone that publishes websites, and have them do it for you…)  Publish your page, and take a look.  Find a used volkswagen on eBay, take a look!
21. Ticket brokering can be a great business to start, and a great way to make money online.  There is minimum investment and high returns.  Brokering works off of emotions.  You see, when sports and entertainment are involved, emotions run high.  When a person wants to see their favorite team play or see their favorite artist or band play, this usually creates an intense feeling of need.  They need to get those tickets!  It is like a person with an illness and in this case, the ticket broker has the cure! You can’t believe how many people buy Disney tickets on Ebay.

If you are considering getting into this line of work, follow these tips.  First, decide where your interests lie. Is it with sports or with entertainment?  If you are not well versed in either area, maybe you should consider some due diligence first.  For example, knowing about music is a good thing attribute to have before you begin buying and trying to sell concert tickets.  Second, before you purchase your tickets, locate exactly where they are.  Ticket brokering is parallel to real estate; it is all about location. Tickets that are almost outside the building are not going to sell as quickly as those on the front row. The best tickets to buy are on the first five rows.  Third, you must make a decision on where to sell your tickets.  You should try to sell on the Internet initially.  There are websites that will charge more than others will and each has a varying amount of traffic.  Be sure to maintain the inventory on your website.  Once your business accelerates the number of transactions that you do, it will be pertinent that you keep track of your inventory.  It could cause you to get overwhelmed easily.

The ticket brokering business is an easy business to start from your home.  This ensures low overhead and the hours are your own.  Make the decision to start your own business!  This business is great for a slow start and with nurturing can become a money making machine.  Try the tips and see where they take you, because your money matters!

What to Do First for Website Fundraising

How to Add PayPal Donate Button to Your Website

First you’ll need to go to the actual PayPal site, so the logo below will take you there. Click on the PayPal for Business link below, and open an account.  You’ll be able to look into accepting credit cards as well as PayPal.  You can also set up recurring payments. Are your donors looking to make a steady monthly donation by subscription?  (Wonderful!)  PayPal is a great solution! It doesn’t cost anything to open an account. PayPal keeps a very small sum from each donation as a processing fee.

Please contact Paypal with your charity organization info. If you are a registered 501 (C) 3 Tax Exempt organization, your PayPal fees could be reduced. If you are conducting charitable fundraising with PayPal, your status must be first verified by PayPal. You’ll need to submit your URL, your contact information, and description of your business for starters. You’ll need to send an email to PayPal at this email address: Compliance @ PayPal . com to begin the process. Get ready to gather up some additional information to submit, such as your proof of tax exempt status or registration from a regulatory body, and a copy of a bank statement or voided check in the name of your organization.

Get a PayPal Merchant Account

In addition to helping non-profits and charitable organizations with website fundraising, PayPal is a great merchant account solution for new and small businesses. If you’ve been told by your bank that you need a “high risk merchant account” this means that you’ll need to look at several options for credit card processing. If you sell merchandise over the internet, or sell information, or are a new small business you may be experiencing rejection when you apply for a merchant account. Know your product and price.  How do you determine a starting listing price with eBay?  It’s actually easier than you might think! 

• On the upper right hand corner of the eBay site, next to the eBay “search” button, click on “Advanced Search” 
• Enter a keyword.  What this means is type in the name of the object that you would like to list for a charity auction on eBay.
• Under the heading “Search Including” click on the box next to “Completed Listings.”

1. Anyone can register to sell items with eBay.  An individual or business not related to the school or charity can list goods, and direct the proceeds to the school or charity.  The charity itself can also create listings and sell on eBay.
   
2. Sign up with PayPal.  Register for a personal or merchant PayPal account.  It’s quick and easy – here’s a tip for signing up with PayPal – have your check book handy.  You’ll need your routing number and checking account number.  Why?  That’s where your money will be sent at the close of the auction!  When you register, PayPal will send a small amount of money, less than $1.00, to your checking account.  When you see it come through, in 3 – 5 days, go back to PayPal, sign in, and let them know the amount of money that was transferred!  It’ll be something like seventeen cents, or forty three cents, some small and random number.  That’s it!  Merchants – get ready to make your customers happy!  People love to shop, and they’re used to paying by PayPal!  If you meet your customer expectations, you’ll have satisfied customers!  That’s the secret to repeat business!
   
3. Sign up with MissionFish to designate a portion (or all!) of your eBay auction sales money to charity.
   
4. Select the charity that you would like to donate money to support through your listing with eBay. If your favorite charity is not already signed up with MissionFish, have them follow the links through and sign up.  They’ll need to have their bank account info handy, as the proceeds will be a direct deposit.  I suggest you have the charity go to the link to sign up, and print out the form, and fill it out on paper before giving it a shot on the computer.  The system won’t allow you to save a halfway processed application.  They’ll also need their mission statement and a logo to upload.
   
5. List your item to sell with eBay, designating your favorite charity to benefit from the proceeds.
   
6. When your item sells through eBay, the portion of your sales that you have pre designated will automatically be routed through MissionFish (small processing fee) right to your favorite charity!
   
7. You’ll get the proper tax paperwork automatically for your donation!
